The American Heart Association (AHA) has selected postdoctoral research fellow Julián Acosta, MD for its 2022 Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award. The award recognizes “Observed and Genomic Life’S Simple 7 Influence Brain Health-related Neuroimaging Traits in Persons Without Stroke Or Dementia,” the highest ranked abstract from the United States submitted to the AHA’s International Stroke Conference (ISC) 2022.
A member of the Falcone Lab, Dr. Acosta’s research interests lie in “clinical data, genomics, radiomics and novel modeling tools like machine learning to better understand the underlying biology of stroke.” His research is made possible by an AHA Bugher Fellowship in Hemorrhagic Stroke Research, aligning with the legacy of the award’s namesake, Paul Dudley White, MD, a staunch advocate for cardiovascular disease and stroke prevention and founding member of the AHA.
