Salary & Benefits

All residents are employees of Yale-New Haven Hospital, and are provided with a comprehensive benefits package. Considering the relatively low cost of living in the New Haven area, the resident salaries are highly competitive.

Residents are also offered an additional educational stipend of $2000 per academic year through the GME office. These funds can be utilized for educational expenses including board review or board exam fees, books and other study material, funding for conference registration and travel expenses, and academically necessary electronics such as laptop computers.

Residents in Yale's Neurology Residency Program are offered 4 weeks of vacation per year.
