Forbes magazine has named Akiko Iwasaki, PhD, Sterling Professor of Immunobiology, to its fourth annual "50 over 50" list in the category of "Innovation." Forbes says its lists, which cover Lifestyle, Impact, Innovation and Investment, "showcas[e] the unstoppable women who have proven that success can be achieved at any age." Forbes writes, "[Iwasaki's] research on Long COVID is creating new understanding of not only the virus, but the complexity of the human immune system."

Carolyn Mazure, PhD, director of Women's Health Research at Yale and chair of the White House Initiative on Women's Health Research, will receive the Elga R. Wasserman Courage, Clarity, and Leadership Award next month from the Yale Women Faculty Forum. The award is named for Elga Ruth Wasserman, whose trailblazing career in the university’s administration and extraordinary advocacy on behalf of Yale women in the early years of coeducation continue to inspire future champions of gender equity and diversity in higher education.

Vishwa Deep Dixit, PhD, DVM, Waldemar Von Zedtwitz Professor of Pathology, professor of immunology, and director of the Yale Center for Research on Aging, has been selected as a member of the Academy for Health & Lifespan Research. Dixit is one of six inductees who were nominated and voted on by the world’s leading geroscientists.

Joe El-Khoury, PhD (left), associate professor of laboratory medicine, has received the "2024 Mentor of the Year" award from the Association for Diagnostics and Laboratory Medicine's Society for Young Clinical Laboratorians (SYCL). This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the mentorship of young trainees in laboratory medicine.

Allison Gaffey, PhD, assistant professor of medicine (cardiovascular) and instructor in psychiatry, has been elected a fellow of the American Heart Association.

Yong-hui Jiang, MD, PhD, professor of genetics, of neuroscience, and of pediatrics, and chief of medical genetics, leads a team that has received an award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the Yale Diagnostic Center of Excellence for Undiagnosed Diseases. Yale also becomes a new site for the NIH Undiagnosed Disease Network.

Eli Neustadter, MD, MSc, psychiatry resident, has been awarded a 2024-25 fellowship position with the American Psychoanalytic Association. The program provides an opportunity to gain knowledge about psychoanalysis and become involved in the local and national psychoanalytic community.

Anup Sharma, PhD, research scientist in surgery, is guest editor for a special issue of Genes. Among his duties, Sharma is seeking submissions on the subject of clinical epigenetics in gastroenterology.
