Bowe Appointed to AAAP Board; Will Chair Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee

Adina Bowe, MD, a 2014 graduate of the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Program in the Yale Department of Psychiatry, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP).

Bowe will be Chair of the newly formed AAAP Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. According to a statement by AAAP, the academy created the committee to “address equity issues and (the committee) is intended to develop policy and initiatives to enhance equity and address discriminatory practices in our community. The new committee will work on strategies that promote equity and diversity of representation within AAAP, as well as policies that work to eliminate racism in healthcare.”

Bowe is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at West Virginia University Charleston Division/Charleston Area Medical Center. She completed medical school training at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica and her residency in internal medicine and psychiatry at West Virginia University. She is Director of the WVU Comprehensive Opioid Addiction Treatment Program Charleston Division.
