MD-PhD Interview Process

Virtual interviews for MD-PhD applicants are completed over a two-day period - (either Monday/Tuesday or Tuesday/Wednesday) during specific weeks in the months of November, December, January and February. The interviews will take place via Zoom.

You will be interviewed by two members of the MD Admissions Committee and two members of the MD-PhD Admissions Committee during your two-day interview session.

Over the course of the two days, you will also have time to speak informally with faculty members whose research interests you.

Both sets of formal interviews are important, as we want to make sure that you are a good fit for our medical school, as well as our MD-PhD program.

Schedule

Night before your interview

Before your first interview day you will be contacted by your “buddy”, a current Yale MD-PhD student. They will be your contact person throughout your interview session.

Monday/Tuesday Session

Applicants in the Monday / Tuesday group must call in to the Zoom meeting by 9:45am EDT on each day of their two-day interview session.

Each interview day will start with an orientation meeting.

Over the course of two days you will have four formal interviews and meet informally with MD-PhD program leadership, including a program overview and Q&A with Program Director Dr. Barbara Kazmierczak and a small group meeting (non-evaluative) with an Associate Director.

Our current MD-PhD students will be available to share their experiences during student run interactive sessions that include SPIDY (Student Perspectives on Identity and Diversity at Yale) and PASS (Peer Advising by Senior Students).

Applicants can expect to complete their interview days by approximately 5:30 pm EDT. Please note, some interviewees may finish earlier in the day depending on individual schedules.
