Letter from the Director

October 23, 2018

Dear Friends,

It is with great sadness that I share the news that Dr. Jim Jamieson passed away October 22, 2018 at his home, after a long illness.

Jim was an outsize presence, and touched all of our lives through his passion for and exuberant love of science and medicine. He was an untiring champion of those who shared his love of learning, and of doing what is right. I know that he made a huge mark on Yale, on the School of Medicine, and on the students who were and still are here.

I am certain that many of you have your own stories of how Dr. J encouraged and inspired you; please remember those and share them with each other. A memorial service will be planned, and we will share details with you as they develop, but I wanted to make sure that all of you knew of the passing of a dear teacher, mentor and friend to so many.

Fred Gorelick, Michael Caplan and Pietro de Camilli have prepared a statement about Jim's life and legacy, which follows.

Sincerely,
Barbara
