2022 SACNAS and ABRCMS

December 18, 2022

The Yale MD-PhD Program was well represented at the 2022 Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) and Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists (ABRCMS) which were held in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Anaheim, CA, respectively.  SACNAS was attended by the MD-PhD Program Admissions & Pipeline Coordinator Kayla McKay and students Daniel Colón-Ríos and Elsie Gonzalez-Hurtado; ABRCMS was attended by the MD-PhD Program Grants & Portfolio Analyst Alex Mauzerall and students Deanne Yugawa and Anchi Wu.  Associate Director Dr. Faye Rogers attended both meetings.  Catching up over dinner with recent Biomed Amgen Scholars and Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows who were attending and presenting their research at these meetings were a highlight of both meetings (see pictures below).

These two conferences bring together an inclusive community of scientists and students aimed at increasing diversity in the STEM workforce and are critical to our efforts to recruit outstanding applicants to the Yale MD-PhD Program.  We are grateful for our students, staff and Dr. Rogers for travelling and talking to so many enthusiastic prospective students interested in learning more about medical and graduate training at Yale.
