Barbara Kazmierczak, MD, PhD, Gustavus and Louise Pfeiffer Research Foundation MD-PhD Program Director and professor of medicine (infectious diseases) and microbial pathogenesis recently received two honors for her work.
Kazmierczak was elected to Fellowship in the American Academy of Microbiology (AAM). The AAM, the honorific leadership group within the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), recognizes excellence, originality and leadership in the microbiological sciences.
Additionally, she was named "Distinguished Lecturer of the American Society for Microbiology" for 2018-2020 and will serve as keynote speaker at ASM branch meetings throughout the United States.

Being elected to the AAM is particularly nice recognition for all that we’ve been able to accomplish, ‘we’ being the operative term; science is a team sport, and I’ve had great students and post docs on my team here at Yale.”
Kazmierczak joined the Yale faculty in 2001 and has directed the MD-PhD Program since 2014.
