Indian Dance Performance by Rukmini Vijayakumar on Saturday Evening, May 4

On Saturday, May 4, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Harkness Auditorium, the internationally renowned Indian dancer Rukmini Vijayakumar will visit Yale School of Medicine, to give a classical Indian dance performance. Admission is free.

Rukmini is the artistic director of the classical dance company Raadha Kalpa and director of the artists' space LshVa in Bangalore, India.

She will perform Talattu, a work that addresses two very strong bonds of love that we share in our lives: the bond between a parent and child and the bond with a lover. Joining her will be members of Natyamandala, an Indian dance awareness group based at the School of Medicine and led by Smita Krishnaswamy, PhD, assistant professor of genetics and of computer science, who is organizing Rukmini's visit.
