EL Clinical Longitudinal Elective

The MD-PhD student will participate as an active member of the designated inpatient and/or outpatient service, participating in appropriate clinical cases at YNHH and/or the VA. The preceptor and student will submit specialty specific learning objectives to Dr. Cohn. The student will attend regularly scheduled specialty conferences (to be determined by the student and his/her clinic preceptor). Assignment may be made weekly, twice monthly, or monthly or as determined by the student and clinical preceptor (as long as clinical contact occurs on a monthly basis at minimum). The student is expected to determine feasibility of participation in the context of graduate studies and laboratory responsibilities.

Length of Rotation: This is the equivalent of a 2-week full time elective, therefore should be the equivalent of 12 half-day ambulatory sessions (or 8 OR sessions) and 12 hours of didactics. It can be done weekly, twice monthly or monthly. The specific rotation dates will be reviewed with the Elective Director.

Scheduling Restriction: None

Student's Class Level: (Yale MD-PhD Students Only) The student must have completed 3 months of clerkships.

Prerequisite: A completed proposal with specialty-specific learning objectives that is signed by student and preceptor must be submitted to the Elective Director.

Grading Scale: Pass/Fail
