Department of Emergency Medicine Congratulates Four Faculty on Recent Promotions

The Yale Department of Emergency Medicine would like to congratulate the following faculty on their recent promotions as well as their commitment to excellence, education, and inclusivity:

Pooja Agrawal MD, MPH has been promoted to Associate Professor, Clinician Educator. Dr. Agrawal is an Emergency Medicine and Global Health specialist with a specific focus on refugees and other displaced populations.

Sharon Chekijian, MD, MPH, has been promoted to Associate Professor, Clinician Educator. Dr. Chekijian’s research interests lie in global emergency medical systems' development including unintentional injury prevention, acute stroke, and cardiac care in low- and middle-income countries.

Kathryn Hawk, MD, MHS, has been promoted to Associate Professor, Clinical-Scientist. Dr. Hawk’s research primarily focuses on the design, testing and implementation of evidence based care for emergency department (ED) patients with substance use disorders, with a focus on initiating buprenorphine treatment in the ED and maximizing effective linkage to ongoing treatment using innovative strategies.

Marek Chawarski, PhD, has been promoted to Professor, Investigator. Dr. Chawarski is a psychologist, researcher, educator who focuses on domestic and global opioid use disorder and the psychology of addiction.
