Research Summary
I am interested in the interaction between basic and clinical sciences and using the tools and resources of the clinical and basic science research communities to further our understanding of the mechanisms of organism pathogenesis and improving diagnostics available for the more rapid and/or accurate identification of infectious diseases. I collaborate with Yale scientists to increase the clinical relevance of research projects as well as identify current gaps in diagnostic testing where advanced methods may improve patient care.
I also have an interest in both assessing the outcomes of laboratory interventions and testing practices on patient care and identifying ways to streamline laboratory practices to improve our ability to provide test results. We have identified areas for improvement for the implementation of rapid respiratory virus testing and its impact on antibiotic overuse. Additionally, working with others at Yale and YNHH, we have studied a number of interventions in practices to improve test utilization and decrease rates of hospital acquired infections.
