Harry Sanchez, MD, Welcomed to Cancer Signaling Networks Research Program at Yale Cancer Center

January 24, 2022

Harry Sanchez, MD, Assistant Professor of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine and Director of Yale Autopsy Services, was recently welcomed to the Cancer Signaling Networks Research Program at Yale Cancer Center.

Dr. Sanchez is currently developing the Yale Tissue Donation Program, which will enhance basic and translational research capabilities at Yale School of Medicine. When fully launched, the Program will enable patients with late-stage cancer to consent to donate tissue for research post-mortem, creating an opportunity for YCC members access to “warm autopsy” tumor tissue from recently deceased individuals. With the appropriate partnerships with YCC members, this program is likely to support new dimensions in basic and translational YCC research, including the interplay between systemic factorssuch as metabolism and immune responseand tumor fitness and cellular phenotypes.

Dr. Sanchez received his undergraduate degree at Fairfield University, his medical degree at SUNY Stony Brook, and did his residency and Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Yale New Haven Hospital. He worked as a pathologist at the Hospital of Central Connecticut before joining the Pathology Department at Bridgeport Hospital and Yale New Haven Health.

His interests include surgical pathology, autopsy pathology, microbiology, medical education, medical history, and quality management.
