Global Aldh2 KO (Aldh2−/−) strain

The Aldh2/ strain was developed and characterized by Isse et al. (1). Thesemice are viable and fertile; they have no detectable capacity to oxidize ACA, and avoid drinking ethanol (just like the humans with the ALDH2*2 polymorphism). They also exhibit increase toxicity following ethanol administration (2) and ACA inhalation (3).
