Postdoctoral Research Positions in Infectious Disease Modeling

Postdoctoral Research Associate positions are available in the Pitzer group at Yale School of Public Health in the Department of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases. Our research focuses on mathematical modeling of enteric diseases, with a particular emphasis on assessing the impact of vaccination against rotavirus and typhoid.

Position 1 – Modeling rotavirus vaccine impact in developing countries

This project involves the development and application of statistical and mathematical models to better understand the important factors underlying rotavirus immunity and transmission in developing countries. The research team includes collaborators from CDC, Bangladesh, Malawi, and Ghana.

Opportunities to work on other projects may also be available. Please inquire if interested.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in statistics, epidemiology, or other highly quantitative fields, strong computer programming skills, good oral and written communication skills, and an interest in global health. Previous experience with mathematical modeling is highly preferred.

Salary will be competitive and depend on skills and experience, and will include benefits. Support for travel to conferences and field sites will also be provided.

For further information, contact Ginny Pitzer (virginia.pitzer@yale.edu). Interested applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a 1-2 page statement of research interests describing your qualifications, and contact information for three references. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
