Yasmin Zakiniaeiz

Yasmin was born and raised in New York City but spent most summers with her extended family in Egypt. She earned a BA in Biology and Psychology at Hunter College at the City University of New York and is currently pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience. She is interested in identifying the neural mechanisms of drug addiction using two imaging modalities- fMRI and PET- to understand these dysfunctional complications on both an anatomical and molecular level. Yasmin is currently investigating the effects of stress and subjective craving on brain function as well as behavioral outcomes such as relapse. Outside of the lab, Yasmin enjoys teaching, traveling and practicing various types of yoga. She hopes to become a certified yoga instructor in the near future.
