Allison Ponce, PhD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, has been named Chair of the American Psychological Association's (APA) Policy and Planning Board.
Ponce was elected to the group in 2019 to represent the area of education in psychology and was selected by its members to serve as Chair as of Jan. 1, 2021. The Policy and Planning Board is charged with considering APA's current and long-range policy and evaluating the structure and functioning of the organization.
APA is the leading scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States, with more than 121,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students as its members.
Ponce earned her PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Connecticut in 2003 and completed her postdoctoral training in the Yale Department of Psychiatry before joining the faculty in 2005. She is the Director of Education at the Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC).
