The EXPOSE CP Study
“Environmental Chemical Exposures and Biologic Markers for Cerebral Palsy”
Cerebral Palsy (CP) is the most common and severe lifelong neuromotor disability in childhood and the condition affects 1 in 345 newborns in the United States each year. The causes for most CP cases remain unexplained. The Liew lab is funded by the NIH/NIEHS (R01ES034756) to lead a new and powerful population-based study that will investigate how parental, social, environmental, and clinical risk factors affect CP development. This project is expected to greatly advance environmental and biological insights into CP etiology, and to inform prevention strategies.
