Biography
Biography
Dr. Martins is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Yale Stress Center, Yale School of Medicine working primarily with Dr. Sinha. He completed his Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Missouri-Columbia thanks to a four-year fellowship provided from the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. His doctoral research used behavioral and electrophysiological methods (namely, EEG/ERPs) to understand the complex interplay between distinct neurobehavioral traits, such as reward processing, incentive salience, and cognitive control, and how these traits interact in explaining susceptibility to addiction. The focus of his current research is on using neuroimaging tools (namely, fMRI) to identify neuroscience-based clinical prognostic indicators explaining pathophysiology of addiction and the wide heterogeneity in treatment outcomes. His research has focused on alcohol use disorder as a prototypical exemplar of a broad class of addictive behaviors.
