Yale University and its faculty have collaborated for over 150 years with institutions and individuals in China, and the YSPH has worked collaboratively in China since 1989.

Since 1999, a Yale training program in China has been carried out with the National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and UCLA. This program is currently supported at Yale through a subcontract with the China CDC (which is further strengthening research training capacity in the China CDC by developing and conducting implementation science training and enhancing core research support capabilities). Now in its 16th year, our international training program has provided training mentorship, research support and lasting partnerships to 36 trainees, and enabled them to apply their knowledge in research and teaching positions on their return home.
