Metabolic pathways and obesity in critical illness

I am currently examining the role of various metabolic pathways in critical illness such as ALI, ARDS and sepsis. I am also interested in the relationship of obesity with these pathways and ICU outcomes. Specifically of current interest are the IGF pathway and the role of adipokines. Outcomes of interest include development of lung injury, and mortality in lung injury and sepsis.We are examining the impact of SIRS and sepsis in older ICU patients.
