Stephanie Halene, M.D., Ph.D., has been named Interim Chief of Hematology at Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital. Halene starts in her new position immediately.
"Dr. Halene's dedication to patient care, her efforts to enable and promote outstanding research, her work to advance the careers of trainees and faculty, and her success as a physician-scientist make her an ideal interim leader for the section of Hematology,” said Charles Fuchs, M.D., M.P.H., director of Yale Cancer Center and physician-in-chief at Smilow Cancer Hospital. “I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Halene and the entire team in Hematology to continue to expand the impact of our clinical, research, and educational missions in benign and malignant hematology and stem cell transplant and cellular therapy.”
An Associate Professor of Medicine, Halene joined the faculty in 2006 after completing her residency and fellowship in hematology at Yale New Haven Hospital and Yale Cancer Center. The section of hematology at Yale Cancer Center includes 18 faculty members focused on the care of patients with malignant and benign hematology needs, and research to advance the field.
