Connecticut DPH Extends COVID Testing Partnership with Yale Pathology Labs Through June 2023

August 03, 2022

The state of Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) recently extended its agreement with Yale Pathology Labs (YPL) to provide COVID testing on the New Haven Green and perform Whole Genome Sequencing testing on positive COVID samples to help inform lineage and variants in our region.

Under the contract the DPH extended through June 2023, YPL will continue to partner with the state and the City of New Haven to provide SalivaDirect™ COVID testing on the New Haven Green. YPL will lead site operations, in addition to providing the test processing and reporting.

The testing site, at 250 Temple Street in New Haven, is open to city residents for walk-up testing Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 12 pm to 2 pm, and 4 pm to 6 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 4 pm to 6 pm.

The contract extension also covers YPL’s continued partnership to provide Connecticut with rapid turnaround time Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) COVID testing. The extension reflects the DPH’s valued relationship with YPL and YPL’s ability to identify new COVID variants quickly as they move into our area.

For months, YPL has worked in conjunction with the state, New Haven, Yale School of Public Health, and the SalivaDirect™ team to provide rapid COVID testing on the New Haven Green as well as at a site on Long Wharf that has since been closed as the demand for testing waned while home testing kits became widely available.
