Chen Liu, MD, PhD, Chair of the Department of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine, has been elected to his second term as Chair of the Practice & Management Committee of the Association of Pathology Chairs (APC).

The APC is a nonprofit that serves as the voice of academic pathology departments in the United States and Canada by providing leadership and advocacy for the discipline of pathology and allowing academic departments to meet the demands of their missions of medical education, research, and practice.

Dr. Liu’s second term as Chair of the APC’s Practice & Management Committee runs through the end of 2025. His first term ends in July.

Dr. Liu’s role as Chair of the APC’s Practice & Management Committee is to encourage networking among the chairs and administrators of academic pathology departments so they can better understand and address problems related to their clinical and administrative missions.

The Practice & Management Committee provides those chairs and administrators with data to address clinical and administrative problems of pathology, including:

  • Defining areas of most concern to members
  • Developing survey questions that produce optimal data that can be applied to the concerns of academic pathology
  • Conducting surveys and analyzing and distributing data
  • Writing white papers to assist pathology departments in dealing with practice management concerns as needed

Dr. Liu is the Anthony N. Brady Professor of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine and Chief of Pathology at Yale New Haven Hospital.
