Desai to be honored with early career award from American Psychological Association

Miraj Desai, PhD, Instructor at the Yale Program for Recovery and Community Health at Yale School of Medicine, has been chosen to receive the Distinguished Early Career Contributions in Qualitative Inquiry Award from Division 5 of the American Psychological Association (Division of Quantitative and Qualitative Methods).

The award will be presented at the 2019 American Psychological Association Convention in Chicago on Aug. 10.

It recognizes an early career researcher who has made outstanding contributions to qualitative research methods in academic, clinical, government, industry, or other settings.

Award recipients may present at the APA convention and will receive an honorary one-year membership to Division 5.

Desai’s research focuses on cultural, community, and social justice perspectives on mental health. His book, “Travel and Movement in Clinical Psychology: The World Outside the Clinic,” examines the relationship between mental health and social problems. He has received numerous awards for his work.
