Electives for Affiliated Residents

The Department of Internal Medicine is very pleased to offer Yale Affiliated Hospital Medical Residents a variety of elective rotations. We provide over 20 electives in Internal Medicine at both Yale-New Haven Hospital and the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven

Internal Medicine Residents who will be a PGY2, PGY3 or PGY4 from one of the eight Yale Affiliated Hospitals can request an elective rotation: Bridgeport Hospital, CIFC-Greater Danbury Community Health Center, Danbury Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, Griffin Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital, and Waterbury Hospital.

If you are an Affiliated Hospital intern (PGY1), we welcome you to submit applications for electives which occur during the second half of the academic year. In the first full week of April, you will be able to take an available elective during block dates which cover April, May, and June. Your Residency Coordinator will have more information.

If you are a resident at a hospital outside of the Affiliation, you may not participate in elective rotations through this program.

Lastly, for any affiliated resident who may wish to pursue a research elective with a member of the Internal Medicine full-time faculty, please contact Dr. Silvio Inzucchi, Director of the Yale Affiliated Hospitals Program, at 203-737-1932 or via email.
