David Vermette, MD, MBA

Biography

David Vermette is a Clinical Fellow in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. Prior to coming to Yale, he attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed an MBA at the University of Texas at Dallas. He completed his residency in Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Yale, and served as Chief Resident during his PGY-4 year. Following residency, he completed advanced training in medical education research with the Yale General Internal Medicine Medical Education fellowship. As a clinician educator, his interests include inpatient medicine, shared decision making, and fostering empathy and joy in trainees. He also serves as a Co-Director of the Clinician Educator Distinction Pathway for the Internal Medicine residency programs.

Career and Research Interests:

  • Exploring ways to promote human flourishing of medical trainees
  • Developing quantitative measures of the community well-being of residency training programs
  • Cultivating humanistic care in medicine
