Nkiruka received her B.S. from the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in Biomedical Engineering& Material Science & Engineering and her M.S. in Applied Biomedical Engineering from the JHU Applied Physics Lab. She then obtained her MD and PhD from Meharry Medical College. Her dissertation research funded by an NIH pre-doctoral fellowship, allowed her to examine the role of host and viral restriction factors on HIV replication. She then completed her residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University where she served as a Med-Peds chief resident. Nkiruka is from Queens, NY and loves to travel and to spend time with family and friends.
