Biography

Angel P Ojeda is a Research Assistant, Medical Assistant, Certified HIV Counselor, and Phlebotomist for the Yale School of Medicine, AIDS Program Community Health Care Van (CHCV). For 17+ years, Angel has provided harm reduction and medical services to at-risk members of the community. Focusing on opioid overdose prevention, his work primarily includes expanded access to naloxone and buprenorphine in primary care and in less traditional settings and syringe exchange programs. A Certified Nutritionist and Fitness Trainer through the International Sports Science Association (ISSA), Angel aims to help patients manage their diabetes, high blood pressure and other diagnoses. Separately, Angel provides consultation and support to multiple research studies on harm reduction strategies, substance use and treatment, intimate partner violence, HIV prevention and care, criminal justice involvement, and homelessness. Angel is fluent in English and Spanish and is a certified medical interpreter through the International Medical Interpreter Association.
