Worker Information

Spraying paint puts harmful chemicals into the air.

Autobody shop workers are exposed to many health hazards in the workplace. One of these hazards is the contaminants released into the air you breathe while working, especially spraying paint. Many products used in body shops, such as paints and thinners, contain harmful chemicals. Some tasks, such as grinding or sanding, produce large amounts of dust containing heavy metals like lead and cadmium. To stay healthy you must avoid or limit your exposure to these materials.
