Joseph K. Lim, MD, professor of medicine; vice chief of hepatology, Section of Digestive Diseases; and director of clinical hepatology, was selected as the next editor-in-chief of Clinical Liver Disease (CLD), an open-access multimedia journal of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD). He will begin his appointment in January 2024.

In his new role, Lim hopes to advance the AASLD’s educational and research missions through CLD, which provides education regarding the prevention, diagnosis, investigation, and management of liver disease to a diverse spectrum of readers, including trainees, clinicians, scientists, policymakers, patients, and caregivers.

“I am deeply honored by the privilege to serve as the next editor-in-chief of Clinical Liver Disease, the preeminent educational journal in hepatology, and look forward to partnering with the editorial team in expanding the scope, quality, impact, and global reach of CLD during my tenure,” he said.

AASLD President Norah Terrault, MD, MPH, said in an announcement that she looks forward to supporting Lim as he executes his vision for CLD. “Our editors are leaders in the field who work tirelessly to promote cutting-edge topics and help our field evolve,” she said.

Lim is a member of the Yale Liver Center. He conducts patient-oriented research evaluating clinical outcomes in chronic liver disease and runs an active clinical trials program examining novel investigational agents for viral hepatitis and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.
