From the Chair’s [Standing] Desk (November 2019)

Diversity, equity, and inclusion in medicine has been a focus of mine since medical school. When I became chair five years ago, we sought to craft our mission statement, one that would describe the culture and cornerstones of our department. With the notion that inclusiveness drives our decisions, three years ago, Dr. Inginia Genao was appointed vice chair of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Since then, many things have changed.
