Biography
Dr Kumar grew up in India and completed his medical education from JIPMER, Pondicherry, India graduating with honors in physiology and biochemistry. He then attended University of Illinois for his internship and residency where he was awarded Junior resident of the year award. He moved to University of Iowa for his nephrology and transplant nephrology fellowship. He was a faculty at University of Vermont before moving to Yale. He is a Fellow of American Society of Nephrology (FASN) and a Fellow of American Society of Transplantation (FAST). His clinical expertise is taking care of the complex needs of kidney transplant patients. His research interest is in predicting chronic kidney disease in non-renal solid organ transplant with a goal of identifying patients who may benefit from multi-organ transplant.
