by Sarah L. Spaulding

Fellow Focus in Four introduces you to fellows from each section of the Department of Internal Medicine. This month's fellow is Crystal Jobson, MD, a clinical fellow in Nephrology.

Why did you choose medicine?

I chose medicine because I wanted to help close health care delivery gaps in underserved and low-resource communities like the one I grew up in.

Why did you choose Yale Department of Internal Medicine for your fellowship?

After completing my residency in New York, I chose to pursue fellowship at Yale to be closer to my family. A solid support system during training is critical to me.

What was your path to Yale?

I went to medical school in Cuba, and later relocated to the U.S. where I completed my residency in New York.

What's a fun fact about you?

I’m a fervent believer in the law of attraction.

Perks of living in New Haven? Connecticut?

I really enjoy being in close proximity to family. I love how easy it is to access other Northeastern states and the ability to experience all four seasons. I also love the opportunities for hiking, camping, going to the beach, and exploring history.

What is your 5-year goal? 10-year? Overall career?

I don't have specific 5- or 10-year goals. However, after fellowship I hope to pursue other interests by taking time away from full-time clinical medicine.
