February 24, 2021

Yale School of Medicine announces a gift to establish the Chênevert Family Brain Tumor Center at Yale Cancer Center. The Chênevert Family Brain Tumor Center will be a leading center in Neuro-Oncology research worldwide, bringing ground-breaking solutions and hope to patients with brain tumors.

The gift will support the development of a new Center dedicated to cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research involving accomplished faculty, physicians, and scientists from Yale University, Yale School of Medicine, Smilow Cancer Hospital, and beyond. The Center’s vision is to promote discoveries and advance meaningful scientific innovations that set new standards for the diagnosis, treatment, and care for patients with brain tumors.

“As a survivor of Stage 4 CNS Lymphoma, our family is thankful for the great care provided by doctors and staff at Yale during my battle. I am fortunate that now I can give back personally and through our Foundation to change the outcome and cure for others affected by brain cancer,” Louis Chênevert said. Mr. Chênevert serves as Chairman of the Yale Cancer Center Director’s Advisory Board.

The Chênevert Family Brain Tumor Center will spark innovation by bringing together and supporting teams of top physicians and scientists who will define new scientific approaches and translate their discoveries into novel clinical trials and eventually treatments for patients with brain tumors. In addition, the Center will serve as a hub to enable trials in partnership with the National Cancer Institute and the pharmaceutical industry. Multidisciplinary “dream teams” created by the Center will work to overcome barriers in research and clinical care, working together to tackle challenges in the treatment and cure of brain tumors.

“Yale Cancer Center, together with our colleagues throughout Yale University, we have all of the ingredients needed to transform the landscape of disease and treatment development. The Chênevert Family gift empowers all of our exceptional talent to work together toward this mission,” said Charles S. Fuchs, MD, MPH, Director of Yale Cancer Center and Physician-in-Chief of Smilow Cancer Hospital. “We are extremely grateful for the Chênevert family’s support of our neuro-oncology research and clinical care.”
