Project HERO (Housing and Employment Resources to Improve HIV Outcomes): A model of HIV care that uses evidence-based interventions to provide HIV treatment, behavioral health services, housing, and employment resources to people living with HIV in the New Haven area; to improve HIV outcomes through an established mobile medical clinic and Ryan White Continuum partners creating a patient-centered medical home (PCMH) by linking people living with HIV to HIV care, housing, and employment services.
MATBio is a study looking to understand changes in blood cell function, gene expression, metabolism and alterations in immune function associated with medication assisted therapy (MAT) (e.g. methadone or Suboxone), for treatment of opioid use disorder.
The mCHARTS initiative represents an innovative model of integrated care that will deploy evidence-based practices and adapt them to enhance existing services, primarily for racial/ethnic minorities and people at risk for or living with HIV (PARLWH) who are homeless or with unstable housing, and create a collocated "Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) in New Haven, CT.

Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is effective at lowering HIV-related mortality and reducing transmission among people living with HIV (PLH). Substance use disorders, especially cocaine use disorders (CUDs) greatly reduce ART adherence and persistence on treatment. Because stimulants like CUDs are not amenable to medication-assisted therapy and directly administered antiretroviral therapy is costly and unwieldy in most settings, evidence-based interventions are urgently needed to improve ART adherence and persistence in PLWH with co-occurring CUDs. We are conducting the first qualitative research to assess the acceptability and feasibility of implementing mHealth interventions followed by a pilot feasibility study to examine the effect of mHealth tools on ART adherence.
