Biography

Darrick Li, MD, PhD is a gastroenterologist at Yale Medicine specializing in the practice of gastroenterology in the inpatient setting. He is dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care of acute conditions involving the gastrointestinal system for patients admitted to the hospital. He treats a variety of conditions including gastrointestinal bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease, removal of foreign bodies, esophageal disorders, diarrheal illnesses, and evaluation and management of nutritional disorders. He is also heavily engaged in the medical education of fellows, residents, and medical students.

He received his M.D. and Ph.D. at the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed both his internal medicine residency and his gastroenterology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. During fellowship he performed translational research in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and hepatitis C as well as clinical research related to evidence-based methodologies and applications.

His primary interests include management of gastrointestinal bleeding, endoscopic hemostatic techniques, clinical education and quality improvement. He is actively involved in research related to anticoagulation management in gastrointestinal bleeding, clinical trials in hospitalized patients with gastrointestinal disease, quality improvement, and systematic reviews of rare gastrointestinal diseases.
