Biography

Dr. Behnegar obtained her bachelors of science degree in biology and chemistry from Hunter College of the City University of New York in 1979. She finished her medical school training at Ross University School of Medicine in Commonwealth of Dominica, British West Indies in 1984. She took a position as a managing research coordinator at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY.

She was promoted to instructor in 2002 and then to assistant professor in 2005. She has conducted over 30 clinical trials over the years and presented her research results at various venues around the world.

Teaching activities included conducting departmental grand rounds and teaching medical students for 7 years at Mount Sinai. She was also a member of the admissions committee at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine for 5 years. She has published a number of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters as well as numerous abstracts.

Dr. Behnegar left Mount Sinai in 2011 to take a position as the Director of Research and Development and senior research coordinator and investigator at the Henri Mondor Hospital, Creteil, France.

She joined Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Infectious Diseases' research staff in 2021.
