Greetings, all –
Thanks so much for your engagement with last week's Global Health Week Events. We will be posting PDFs of the posters (as well as the recordings of the other sessions) on the Office of Global Health website (https://medicine.yale.edu/intmed/global/) so you will soon have the opportunity to view anything that you missed.
In the wake of last week’s violent attack in Atlanta on women of Asian descent, I wanted to share with you this thoughtful and solutions-oriented piece from NPR (which, appropriately, focuses on the perspectives of leaders from the Asian American and Pacific Islander community): https://www.npr.org/2021/03/20/979356675/how-asian-american-leaders-say-the-biden-administration-can-address-hate
And although we have very few details at this time about yesterday’s mass shooting in Colorado, the knowledge that gun control is a priority for our President (https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2021/02/14/statement-by-the-president-three-years-after-the-parkland-shooting/) and many members of Congress (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-congress-guns/u-s-house-passes-two-democratic-backed-gun-control-bills-idUSKBN2B32MA) provides a degree of hope for a less violent future.
