Global Health & Equity Distinction Pathway News Update for January 6, 2021

January 06, 2021

Dear all,

It is a dark day in our nation’s history. The scenes and stories coming out of Washington, D.C. this afternoon about the violent disruption of our democratic process are difficult to see and hear. And, sadly, we register that the political vitriol and untruths of these last months (and years) have been leading us here…and are not surprised. There is much repair work to do.

Tomorrow’s medical grand rounds is an opportunity to let some light in, as Dr. Richard Sutton will give a talk entitled, “AIDS: The First 40 Years and Where Are We Now?” Reflecting on where things stood in the early days of another pandemic, on the progress that has been made since then towards ending HIV/AIDS, and how much this science has led to advancements in many other fields, there is much to be hopeful for.

Sending thoughts of peace,

Tracy
