  • This week, I’d like to share with you a pair of attached articles that speak to the roles of academic medical centers with respect to conversations on the intersection of race, medicine, and social change:
    • Creating Real Change at Academic Medical Centers - How Social Movements Can Be Timely Catalysts - describes the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Department of Medicine experience of working collaboratively with the Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement to uncover and address issues of racial injustice within the institution.
    • The Performance of “Antiracism” Curricula - asking readers to pay attention to the ways that institutions demonstrate a commitment to antiracist statements and curricula by looking within, and examining/addressing their own racist systems and structures
