Dr. Costello is an Associate Research Scientist in the Biostatistics Core at the Program on Aging in the Geriatrics Section of the Department of Internal Medicine of the Yale University School of Medicine. She is a lifespan developmental psychologist and applied biostatistician with expertise in life course epidemiologic research methods and an interest in using innovative analytic methods to study heterogeneity and disparities in development throughout the life course. Guided by the principles of social epidemiology and an ecological approach to promoting optimal health across all stages of development, she has collaborated with diverse investigators on a variety of interdisciplinary research and evaluation projects, including descriptive epidemiologic studies, health systems outcome evaluations, participatory action research programs, randomized community trials of positive youth development, analyses of disproportionality and disparity in the child welfare system, and longitudinal investigations of risk and resilience in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Dr. Costello earned master’s and doctoral degrees in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University, a Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology and biostatistics from the University of Connecticut, and a Master of Business Administration degree in investment finance from the University of Hartford.
