YCC Humanities in Medicine: "Readings by Physician Poets of Yale"

The Thomas Duffy Lecture

William Carlos Williams, the most eminent physician poet of the 20th century, exhorted us regarding the importance of poetry in our lives in his poem Asphodel, That Greeny Flower:

It is difficult to get the news from poems/ yet men die every day/ for lack of what is found there.

The Program for Humanities in Medicine is very pleased to present Readings by Physician Poets of Yale. Dr. Barry Zaret of Cardiology and Diagnostic Radiology will read selections from his recently published book of poetry, Journeys.  Neuropathologist Laura Manuelidis, author of Out of Order, will frolic in the bardic role as well. Cosby Stone, Jr, a resident in med/ped and author of Becoming a Physician and Epidemiologist and Occupational Medicine Physician Mark Russi will share their poems and love of poetry with us.

You are cordially invited to attend this presentation of Yale Poets.  The Greeny Flower beckons all of us.
