Claude D. Pepper Center Symposium: "Aging Research at Yale: Past, Present, and Future"

An Aging Research Symposium is being sponsored by the Yale Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center and Program on Aging.  The goals of the Symposium are:

-  to commemorate the longstanding contributions of the Yale Pepper Center, which has been continuously funded by the National Institute on Aging since 1992;

-  to highlight the opportunities and challenges in aging research during the next quarter century and how new discoveries can be used to improve the care of older persons and inform health policy; and

-  to engage the scientific community, the public and policymakers about the importance of aging research and the critical role of NIH in supporting this research.

A reception will follow at 6 p.m.

Speakers will include:

Dr. Richard Hodes, Director of the National Institute on Aging for the past 20 years. Topic: "Opportunities and challenges in aging research during the next quarter century”

Dr. Mary Tinetti, Gladys Phillips Crofoot Professor of Medicine and Public Health; Chief, Section of Geriatric Medicine

Dr. Stephen Strittmatter, Vincent Coates Professor of Neurology and Professor of Neurobiology

Dr. Sandy Chang, Associate Professor of Laboratory Medicine and of Pathology; Associate Director, Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory

Dr. Nicholas Christakis, Sol Goldman Family Professor of Social and Natural Science
