Jasmine A. Khubchandani, MD (VA Scholar) is a general surgeon in training at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA and a research fellow at the National Clinician Scholars Program (NCSP) at Yale in New Haven, CT. Dr. Khubchandani graduated from Stonehill College in Easton, MA with a B.S. in Biology, summa cum laude, and earned her medical degree at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA. Following completion of the NCSP and general surgery residency, Dr. Khubchandani intends to pursue a Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship to become an academic breast cancer surgeon rooted in community.
Her current research focuses on health equity and specifically understanding the influence of cultural identity on the experience following breast cancer surgery. Dr. Khubchandani’s work is grounded in qualitative methodology based on principles of psychotherapy and leverages local community partnerships to bring the voice of those most impacted by the work to the design and implementation of the study. Her passion for understanding the narrative of others drives her to pioneer a novel surgical psycho-oncology practice.
