Yale’s Program in Addiction Medicine is an international leader in research, education, prevention and treatment of substance use disorders. In addition to pioneering research, we are committed to training future health care practitioners and leaders how to prevent, identify, and treat substance use and substance use disorders through several innovative training programs including our Addiction Medicine Fellowship. We are also committed to training the next generation of researchers and provide opportunities and mentorship for trainees interested in developing or strengthening their research skills in the field.

This program is enhanced by the generous philanthropic support of our donors. A gift of any amount is vital to our mission and goals.

To learn more about our work and opportunities to partner with us through charitable giving, please contact Laura Wyrick, Associate Director of Development at laura.wyrick@yale.edu or 203-436-8540.

Yale’s Program in Addiction Medicine is committed to excellence in research, education and training, and clinical care.

Here are some examples of how philanthropy can be used to support our mission:

Research

Our program works to improve patient outcomes through research and innovation. With your support, we can continue our leadership in developing interventions and testing models of care delivery for patients with substance use and substance use disorder.

Education and Training

Our ACGME-accredited Addiction Medicine Fellowship and other educational programs cultivate future leaders in substance use prevention and treatment spanning internal medicine, emergency medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, infectious disease including HIV medicine, digestive diseases, as well as nursing, physician assistant, and public health professions. In their research and practice, our trainees will advance the field of addiction medicine and improve health care providers’ skills in preventing and caring for patients with substance use disorders. Your support will allow us to expand our reach for professional development.

Clinical Care

Our program is dedicated to providing evidence-based clinical care for individuals in the greater New Haven community with substance use and substance use disorder. Through innovative inpatient consultation services and outpatient treatment models as well as partnerships with community organizations we strive to care for patients with substance use disorder in a comprehensive way. Your support will allow us to provide more comprehensive care to this population and technical support to other clinical programs.

Named Endowed Professorships

Endowed professorships are the highest honor Yale School of Medicine (YSM) can bestow upon a faculty member who is distinguished as a leader in medicine. An endowed professorship in Addiction Medicine affords secure, flexible support for our program’s critical research and scholarly activities. A professorship can be named for a donor or a loved one creating an enduring tribute to individual generosity.

Named Endowed Lectureships

Lecture series play an important role in our academic life at YSM. A named endowed lectureship ensures that our program will have a perpetual financial stream to support scholarly lectures by distinguished leaders in field.
