Substance Abuse Treatment Unit (SATU)
The Substance Abuse Treatment Unit (SATU) is part of the Addiction Services of the Connecticut Mental Health Center, a cooperative endeavor of the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and the Department of Psychiatry of Yale University School of Medicine. Since 1968, SATU has been providing the Greater New Haven community with state-of-the-art services for the evaluation and treatment of alcohol and drug use disorders and comorbid psychiatric and medical conditions. SATU offers individual, group, and family therapy, specialized pharmacotherapy for addiction and comprehensive psychiatric care. Additionally, SATU conducts nationally and internationally renowned clinical research with major studies and pilot projects. The aims of the research program are the development of effective service delivery programs and innovative treatments for substance use disorders. SATU hosts trainees including Addiction Psychiatry fellows and psychiatry residents.
