Tracy Crosby, Clinical Operations Manager; Fellowship Coordinator, Section of Endocrinology & Metabolism (Internal Medicine)
What is your role in the Department of Internal Medicine?
My primary responsibility is fellowship coordinator in the Section of Endocrinology.
Why did you decide to work at Yale School of Medicine (YSM)?
When we returned to Connecticut after a few years in the Washington, D.C. area, where I had been working at the Smithsonian in a science education outreach program, I was looking for a place to land. Close family friends who had been at Yale for a long time, specifically in the Department of Internal Medicine, suggested I check it out. I worked as a casual for a bit and then was hired permanently back in 2004. The benefits were a HUGE factor for us as we already had one child and our second was on the way. In 2006, I started in the department, working for Dr. Silvio Inzucchi, and here we are, all these years later, and I’m still working for him.
Have you been involved in any projects that you are particularly proud of?
Not so much a project but a team I've put together, which was featured in D[IM]ensions previously.

What do you look forward to most?
I'm so glad the university embraced the flexible workplace and created options. I'm excited and anxious to see where this takes us next. It's a big culture change, especially on the School of Medicine campus given the great diversity of roles here.
What do you love about your career and working at Yale?
The people. The chance to continually learn. The challenges that have presented themselves. And being surrounded by the intellectual curiosity of so many people. I find it invigorating and inspiring.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The people - again. It's about the people. I love getting to know my colleagues and learning how they see things and what's important to them. And I truly love supporting people and helping them reach their goals. I see it like a puzzle - we're here and want to get there. How do we do it with who we are and what we have?
What is a fun fact about you or favorite pastime?
My brother (Joe Crosby) and I are pretty tight. We are two years apart, went to the same college, and he works at the university also. And both of our oldest children are at the same college now!
One piece of advice you will never forget?
Dance like no one's watching -- because everyone is already so worried about how they themselves look, that no one is actually looking at you.
