Biography

Dr. Vinocur joined Yale in 2021, after eight years in practice in Rochester, NY where he directed the pediatric electrophysiology program at the University of Rochester / Golisano Children's Hospital and developed expertise in zero-radiation techniques. He attended Cornell University for computer science and then the University of Pennsylvania for medical school, followed by clinical training at the University of Connecticut (pediatrics), the University of Minnesota (pediatric cardiology), and the University of Toronto / SickKids Hospital (pediatric cardiac electrophysiology).

Dr. Vinocur is a pediatric and adult congenital cardiologist (heart specialist) and electrophysiologist (heart rhythm specialist). He directs the adult congenital electrophysiology program at Yale.

His clinical interests include:

  • Congenital heart disease (CHD) including adult congenital heart disease (ACHD)
  • Heart rhythm problems in fetuses, children, adolescents, and ACHD patients, including:
    • Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW), supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia (VT), and premature beats (PACs and PVCs)
    • Congenital, acquired, and post-surgical heart block (atrioventricular block)
    • Hereditary arrhythmia syndromes including long QT syndrome (LQTS), catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT), Brugada syndrome, and others, with an emphasis on patient/family-centered management including individualized treatment plans and shared-decision-making approach to exercise
    • Cardiomyopathies with heart rhythm involvement, including arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM)
    • Other medical conditions with heart rhythm involvement, including genetic, neuromuscular, metabolic, and mitochondrial disorders
  • Catheter ablation of arrhythmias, including radiofrequency ablation, cryoablation, and zero-radiation techniques
  • Device therapy for arrhythmias, including pacemakers, defibrillators (ICDs), S-ICDs, and cardiac loop recorders

His academic interests include many aspects of pediatric / adult congenital cardiology and electrophysiology, with particular emphasis on hereditary arrhythmia syndromes and on quality improvement and outcomes research including the use of multicenter registries ("big data").
