Physician Biography

Dr. Sugeng is currently is the Director of the Yale Echo Lab ( since 2012) and is the Director of the Echo Corelab of Yale Cardiovascular Research Group. She graduated from Udayana University Medical School in Bali, Indonesia. Subsequently, she earned a MPH degree from Boston University, was a research fellow in echocardiography at Tufts University Medical Center, did her residency at UMASS medical center, and Cardiology fellowship at the University of Chicago for Cardiology with an extra year of echocardiography fellowship and was on faculty prior to her Yale appointment in 2010. She has been recognized at University of Chicago and Yale with a teacher award. She's nationally and internationally known for her research in echocardiography particularly three-dimensional echocardiography.

She is highly interested in valvular heart disease, hypertension, and preventive cardiology. Her focus and interests have been in the diagnosis, treatment of valvular heart disease. She is involved in structural heart disease interventions helping in guiding those procedures such as TAVR, Mitraclip or ASD/ PFO closures.

In addition, as any general cardiologist prevention is a large emphasis in medical practice. She believes in a holistic approach to treating patients and that it's important to have a healthy lifestyle in addition to modern medicine.
